Hi! I’m Rebekah (Schneider) Liefer. I teach 2nd grade at St. John’s Lutheran School and I love it!! I am originally from Spanish Lake in North County, St. Louis where my father was a pastor at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church (LCMS). I attended grade school at Grace Chapel Lutheran School, Lutheran High School North, and Concordia University River Forest (Chicago). Immediately after graduation in 1993 I began teaching at Grace Lutheran School, a mission school in Hispanic inner city Chicago. After four years I moved closer to home to Red Bud (just close enough, just far enough!) and at that time began teaching 2nd and 3rd grades together at St. John’s. The following year I started teaching 2nd grade solely and have been ever since.
This year is a new experience for me, though. I have the pleasure of team teaching with the other 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Nebel. It has been a wonderful experience so far and one that hopefully will happen again as our numbers grow here at St. John’s! I now call Red Bud my home, especially since I have my own family with my husband Brian, son of Doris and the late Robert Liefer, daughter Christine Joy, and son Brian James. One of my favorite hobbies is playing piano for Blossom City Strings/Red Bud String Studio with Mrs. Graves’ violin students. It is a wonderful experience since my whole family is involved!
